We raise our turkeys in a system similar to our pastured broilers. For the first four weeks, the baby turkeys (poults) are too fragile to survive out-of-doors. They live in a brooder house which is basically a structure designed to be a turkey nursery. After four weeks of age, the poults are moved to turkey tractors for another four weeks until they are large enough to be safe from predation by eagles, hawks, and owls. They are then allowed to range on large sections of pasture using movable electric netting and a mobile shade structure. Their diet of pasture and bugs is supplemented with non-GMO, corn & soy-free turkey feed produced by Red Bridge Farm in Colville, Washington. Oak Meadows' turkeys make for fantastic Thanksgiving dinners or special occasion meals year-round. Our turkeys' average processed weight is 12-24 pounds.
